This article describes the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Czech Dictionary Office, the predecessor of today’s Institute of the Czech Language. The research results presented at this year’s exhibition and conference Čeština v pohledu synchronním a diachronním – Stoleté kořeny Ústavu pro jazyk český (Czech in Synchronic and Diachronic Perspective – One Hundred Years of the Czech Language Institute) testify to the fact that throughout its history, the Institute of the Czech Language has become the central institution for complex research on the Czech language, and has also acted in an important representational role for the nation.
