The České Středohoří Mts.: Volcanostratigraphy and Geochemistry

To chci

The České středohoří Mts. is an erosional relict of the Cenozoic volcanosedimentary complex in the Ohře Rift. On the basis of a new volcanological model and geochemical investigation the following volcanostratigraphicalformationwere recognized: (i) the Lower Formation - lavas and volcanoclastites of basanitic character (36-26 Ma, 12 norm. Ol; Mgx=65-82, celý popis

On the basis of a new volcanological model and geochemical investigation the following volcanostratigraphicalformationwere recognized: (i) the Lower Formation - lavas and volcanoclastites of basanitic character (36-26 Ma, 12 norm. Ol; Mgx=65-82, aver.75; high contents of Cr, Ni, Co, Sc; common presence of lherzolite xenoliths;low87Sr/86Sr=0.70313-0.70353; high 143 Nd/144 Nd=0.51238-0.512849, eNd=+2.8+4.8) corresponding to low-differenciated, only weakly crustal-contaminated upper mantle products; (ii) the Upper Formation - lavas and pyroclasticoftrachybasaltic type (31-25 Ma, 2 norm. Ol; Mgx=60-72, aver. 65; low contents of Cr, Ni, Co, Sc; lack of lherzolite xenoliths; higher 87Sr/86Sr=0.70443-0.70465; lower 143Nd/144Nd=0.512679-0.512742, eNd=+1.5 to + 2.6)representingdifferentiated and partly crustal-contaminated evolved products; (iii) the probable Uppermost Formation - flow(s) of basanite (24Ma) similar in geochemical characteristics to those of the Lower Formation. The Group (iv)of the LateMiocene Intrusives (13 Ma) similar to those of the Lower Formation (16norm. Ol; Mgx=70-79, aver. 75; high contents of Cr, Ni, Co, Sc; somewhat higher 87Sr/86Sr=0.70365-0.70376; somewhat lower 143Nd/144Nd=0.512845-0.512847,eNd=+4.4to +4.3) representing primitive magma probably associated with rejuvenation of tectonic movements in the OR or pulsation of magmatic activity, was used for comparison
